Video Game Designers Wanted
An independent video game company has hired our video game studio to create a new and exciting game. This game will be designed strictly for mobile devices and will be a (visually) linear game, such as the original hits: Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Your team will be creating the story, characters, visuals, and levels that make video games fun and exciting. The areas your team will be focusing on are the same ones that make developers and companies spend millions of dollars creating and designing.

Design Thinking
Step 4: Prototype
Work on our video game prototype continues. For today's task you will design, sketch, and animate the hero and enemies for your video game.
Designing Your Characters
What's a video game without a hero? To begin sketch out a quick picture of your hero and enemies using the grid paper. Then add your hero to the app by capturing it using the bloxels blocks or building it in the app.
Animating Your Characters
In Bloxels a character is made up of three states: IDLE, WALK, and JUMP. Each state is made up of an animation. Animations are built by stringing boards together as frames to create the illusion of movement.
Time To Test!
Test your animation by tapping on the green play button on the right. Make sure that your character's 3 states of animation have the correct movements. Is your character blinking when it's IDLE? Does it WALK and JUMP correctly? If not click on the purple pencil to return to the editor.

Did You Know?
Many assets in the game can also be animated. Hazards, collectibles, water and enemies look super cool when they are moving. Experiment with adding animation to some of your assets to add some excitement to your video game.
Have fun with this, and I can’t wait to see what you have created!
